We don't know if it is, which is why I offer a free no-obligations call to all potential clients. Among other things, we'll discuss whether my approach is a good fit for your unique challenges. It's important to feel heard, safe, and understood, and I encourage you to 'shop around' before settling on a counselor/therapist. I look forward to hearing about your specific concerns and discussing how I may be able to help.
Yes! In the Bridle Path area of Toronto. The address is 17 Brian Cliff Drive, in a dedicated office attached to my home. (This will change in Spring 2025.) There is free parking on-site.
I do encourage Toronto residents to prioritize in-person sessions to benefit from the more enriched experience of being in the same room. A lot of human communication tends to be non-verbal, and this can be lost during Zoom calls (despite what others will tell you to maximize their own convenience).
I work with individuals dealing with relationship challenges because meaningful change can start with personal insight, whether or not both partners are ready to engage in counseling together.
Even when working with couples, I typically incorporate individual sessions alongside joint sessions. This combined approach allows for deeper exploration of each partner's perspective, creates space for insights that might be difficult to access in joint sessions, and helps build a more complete understanding of the relationship dynamic. Some concerns, fears, or aspirations may be easier to explore initially in individual sessions before bringing them into the couple's dialogue.
In individual sessions, we can explore relationship dynamics from a deeper perspective, helping you understand patterns, discover new possibilities, and develop clearer insights into both yourself and your relationship. This work can be valuable whether you're preparing for future couples counseling, working through relationship challenges independently, or seeking to understand your own role in relationship patterns.
I offer virtual sessions to clients globally.
Individual sessions are $95 and joint sessions are $145 taxes in. I've priced my services to make them as accessible as possible. If affordability is still a concern, or if you're dealing with extenuating circumstance, please reach out—I have a 'pay what you can' sliding scale.
Yes, outside of a few very specific cases specified by the law (e.g., imminent danger), both your involvement in counseling and the contents of our sessions will remain fully confidential, and you will be provided a written commitment as part of our signed agreement before your first session. This is a critical prerequisite of the process, as it allows clients to feel safe while engaging honestly. I place great emphasis on providing a totally judgement-free space to work through all manner of thoughts and feelings—from the inconvenient to the uncomfortable, from the confusing to the suppressed, from sources of pride to sources of shame—and adhere to the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association's (CCPA's) Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.
I hold a BA from Columbia (pre-med) and MA from Harvard (completing some graduate coursework at MIT), and received a fellowship from Yale.
I also hold a diploma in Depth Psychology, am involved with existential psychoanalysis, and have taught undergraduates.
